The Coach

J.R. Young.
Father. Coach. Strength Athlete.

I spent years being stronger than almost everyone in the room and still carrying body fat I couldn't seem to move. I had the training handled. The nutrition was a different story.

I spent years as a first responder — shift work, irregular sleep, meals whenever you could get them. Then I moved into supplement manufacturing for eight years while building a family. I know what it looks like when there's no perfect window to train, no clean week to start, and no margin for a plan that requires ideal conditions. I was living the excuse for not fixing the fat. It took that long to stop accepting it and build something that actually held up.

That's what Hadrian Fitness is built on. Experience that earned the framework, and a system built from it.

What I believe.

Strength First

Strength training is the anchor of everything. It preserves muscle during a cut, improves body composition without endless cardio, and builds the kind of durability that holds up through real life. Fat loss built on top of strength is fat loss that sticks.

Training holds. Nutrition is what breaks.

Most men who come to me train hard. The training is not the problem. The food has never been structured around the goal — not with real targets, a real caloric framework, and a plan that holds up in an imperfect week.

Sustainable, Not Extreme.

Crash cuts and maximum-effort programs produce short results. I'm not building a twelve-week transformation. I'm building a system you carry forward. One brick at a time.

I coach with you, not at you.

I'm not here to tell you what you want to hear. I'm here to tell you the truth about what's working and what isn't, adjust the plan when life gets in the way, and keep you moving forward when it would be easier to stop.

"I spent years building everything except myself."

I had a career, a family, and a training record that most guys would respect. What I didn't have was a body that matched the effort I was putting in. I was strong — seriously strong — and still carrying more fat than I should have been.

It took longer than it should have to admit that the training wasn't the gap. The nutrition was. Not the concept of eating well — I knew the basics. The structure. The actual targets. The protein numbers. A plan that didn't fall apart the moment the week got hard.

When I finally built that system, the fat came off and the strength held — both, at the same time, for good. That's what I teach now. If you're strong and still carrying weight you shouldn't be, I've stood exactly where you're standing. I built the way out.

Experience

8+ Years, Supplement Industry

Over eight years working in supplement manufacturing — not selling them. That means I understand formulation, dosing, quality standards, and which products are worth the money and which are clever marketing. That knowledge goes directly into every coaching engagement.

Experience

18+ Years of Personal Training

Eighteen years in the gym — through a career as a first responder, a decade in supplement manufacturing, and fatherhood. A 600 lb deadlift, a 550 lb squat, a 345 lb bench press. Serious training built inside a real life, not a perfect schedule. That's the context I coach from.
